WW11 and sometimes seen in the back of some old store room, certainly still used from time to time in the 80's and 90's

Is there no date under the flap where I can just about make out CASE ???
Not seen this type in use during WW1(not to say it wasnt) so would say WW2 or early 50s.

It is the standard type case used with the 1937 pattern webbing equipment. The manufacture date could be any time throughout the war, or even post war. The latest example I have is a Canadian one from 1946. I believe these same cases were made in the UK for the Belgian Army after the war as well.
They were made in several different styles (with or without a full webbing backing/canvas or webbing material, etc).
