Help with this Commando Beret.

I every one.. I collect uniforms and  militar objects  during the  period of the Portuguese colonial war in Africa between(1961  to 1974).

I am about to buy this beret.  The seller says that the beret is genuine and was issued between 1961 and 1974..  I have no idea what these berets looked like at the time. I never see one before.. The information I have is  never was official the use of this type of beret buy the Portuguese government  but there were  some command  campanies that used it.  

I don't want to be ripped off with this one.

I ask someone who has more knowledge in this field to give me a information..

My guess is post '74. It is a nice beret though - looks a custom made piece. Pedro Pato would have a better idea ...

What made me doubt it was the badge insignia plus the interior color..
You know there is a lot of fake army material and unscrupulous sellers looking to ripp you off..

Biggest red flag is the badge. I don't think the Portuguese adopted the vinyl badges until *after* '74.

That beret was most probably made for veteran meetings or it is a plain fake.

The camouflage berets that some Comandos used were the same model as issued to the Flechas, it is a wool beret and the badge used would be made of metal, kept yellow or enameled. The issued beret badges are still made of metal and there is no OFFICIAL vinyl beret badge being issued.

Even the cloth is wrong, Portuguese Army cloth was HBT weaved with a distinctive fish bone pattern and the cloth in that beret is the same as the fabric used for commercial lizard hunter garments that were still popular in Portugal during the 90's.

Today, while I were searching for military items on google, I found out a picture of a veteran a (Portuguese comando) that was wearing exactlly a beret like this one..

Pedro..What about this one.  .The tag is it genuine ?.. I never see  one like this.. I am familiar with the ones that has in written this.....  BOINA MILITAR .....De.....O.G.F.E.

I like the instruction on how to properly wear beret..

Not sure about the insignia but the beret looks good to me..

I am sure the beret is genuine, just missing the red and green ribbons. Also the insignia is real.. The two crossed rifles are the infantary insignia ((RIFLEMAN)) . That what I used on my beret and the coat when I made my tourn in the Portuguese army. in wich I keep both with me..


My guess is.. probabbly this beret belonged to an officer or sergeant..

There were some tailors providing berets and dress uniforms for the professional soldiers like officers and NCO's that were full time soldiers.

The last beret is legit.
