There's a name and serial marked inside, but nothing else. Maybe someone knows this type of serial and from what country it is, or just recognizes the hat type itself by it's
distinctive 3 ventholes per side or the general cut.
The countries I mentioned in the thread name are just a guess, as Thomson doesn't exactly sound Asian or African or whatever.

You have me stumped! There are not many nations that used HBT at all, fewer that had boonies. The shape is similar to US WW2, but the holes are wrong. I can't find a good picture of a French boonie in HBT, but they do use 3 holes on each side (in a line, not triangular). And then there's the name Very Happy I was thinking Ireland might be a possibility, but I can't find any pictures of boonies. I looked at older NZ and Aussie boonies and they don't match either.

I hope someone has the answer!

FFL, perhaps, made in Indochina? The book I have on Legion uniforms in Indochina has a similar, 3-hole, HBT made 'Chapeau de Brosse', that was tailored in Vietnam and worn by a soldier from the 3e REI. (As far as precedent for use of HBT, I personally own a TTA 47 Alevee jacket which is oddly made from HBT; and we should all know by now the French received a lot of WWII US uniforms, including a LOT of 'Daisy-May's').

I do also have a French one, which is way bigger, like a wide brimmed hat.
This doesn't look like HBT to me though, I really fail to see the V pattern, just diagonal single direction lines
