It was really amazing to see some of the differant Russian uniforms worn right in the heart of Moscow after the wall fell. What I saw was a mix of differant patterns very much like some of the photos in Dennis Desmonds Russian camouflage book. What was really great was talking with many of the post airborne troops that left Afghanistan after the war. It gave me a little differant perspective on what was worn and why! Guess that their supply & demand was not the most efficient. I traded off my camera and lenses for new and issued Soviet uniforms so my brother who worked in Moscow got the photos for his collection. It is designed like the MVD uniforms with cargo pockets on the front thighs and multiple other pockets for knives, flashlights, batons, etc. The uniform doesn't have any labels or markings other than simple cloth size tags.
The insignia on the uniform is subdued and is professionally machine sewn to the uniform. On the left sleeve there is a Russian para patch, the right sleeve patch has a Russian eagle with "Russia" written in English. This "Russia" patch is supposed to be used by units serving abroad.
Here is a photo of a Russian soldier in Chechnya(?)wearing a uniform that looks a lot like this one.
That is a nice jacket and a badged set would go well with my new Russian Federation VDV beret
I imagine that this uniform was issued to Ministry of Internal Affairs troops.
Does anyone have any information on the use of the uniform? I have posted close-ups of the chest insignia on the uniform to help in identifcation. Any help provided in identification would be appreciated.

Re: Russian DPM Uniform
Do you have any information about the date on this uniform?
It looks a bit more recent because of the zipper, but I might be wrong with this.
Great looking uniform anyway, I'm still missing a nice Kukla set.

Re: Russian DPM Uniform
No I don't, but it's recent, 2000s. Real KUKLA uniforms are built almost exactly like the Mabuta-2 special purpose sets and made from 100% cotton. This is a cheap look-alike with zippers and synthetic fabrics.

Here is the first series of KUKLA uniform, issued to SOBR troops sometime in 1994:

Re: Russian DPM Uniform
Now THATS a real treasure, great find!
Who's the producer of this suit?
Reminds me a bit of Vera, but the stamps look different.
What does the neck-tag say?

Re: Russian DPM Uniform
According to one Russian source, the tags and stamps were made very inconspicuous so there are no factory or unit stamps. The stamps are actually concealed in the groin and armpit, and the cloth tag in the collar is only for size.
I believe Vera made this uniform because it is similar in several ways to KKO series uniforms from the same period. But it still has some unique features, like the concealed chest pockets, ventilation mesh in a few areas, Velcro-assisted buttoned pockets and a few other neat things. I consider it one of the rarest Russian uniforms in my possession.

Re: Russian DPM Uniform
How about the fabric? Is it the thick cotton type like on the KKO series uniforms?
The overall look of the stamps highly reminds of the Vera stamps, I never saw stamps like this by any other Russian producer.

Fabric is same, seems a little thicker, but pure cotton. I think the stamps were made sparse for political reasons, in case of capture or casualties, the enemy would not be able to get as much leverage out of their successes.
Furthermore, this was in the early 1990s, where today's abundance of MVD suppliers was not yet established.

Re: Russian DPM Uniform
Here's a bump with some SSO uniforms that you all might have already seen on RA:
Left side is DPM94 rip-stop, middle two are DPM94 cotton, and right is DPM68 cotton.
