Hi all.
I've had this jacket in my collection for a very long time and have no idea what it is. It is very well made and in the standard Belgian "Denison" style of the day, though full zip front using a plastic zipper. The buttons are the same as on contemporary Belgian military items. However, it is made of a tough but light cloth with a looser weave than other Belgian items. I have no other Belgian items made from this cloth. The snaps are dull, but were not painted like other Belgian items. The only labeling on it is a small size label with "EL" marked on it.
For sure this is not standard Belgian issue, however it doesn't seem to be pure commercial either. Someone spent a lot of money on this cloth and I know of no items similar to it. Maybe a military contractor made a small batch for a UN mission? My guess is it was made in the early 1980s.

Any thoughts appreciated!
Steve
