M90 Pant Questions Empty M90 Pant Questions

    Post by fish_thrower Fri Jun 28, 2024 1:15 pm

Hi all. Just joined but have a quick question. I went through the threads related to M90 uniforms to try to get as much information as I could before asking and I'm still not really sure. Here is my question: is the below pair of pants authentic/actual military issue and de-milled? Or are these just reproductions?

    Threads consulted: https://iacmc.forumotion.com/t3862p25-m90-uniform and https://iacmc.forumotion.com/t10043-m90t-uniforms-available-for-sale

The second one in particular is what led me to my question. I saw the tag is not a military tag but appears to be a 'commercial' tag that replaced the military tag for legal reasons as the second thread talks about. The seller of the pants stated these are 'original' by which I think they meant issued/intended for issue, and they came NOS. Also had a bit of a funny smell, like a coating of some kind (something also mentioned in the threads I read). Please tell me what you make of them.

This is the best answer I can give.

Chinese factories routinely over produce numbers of legit contract uniforms for other countries. These M90 Ls are exactly that, hence the commercial tags.

These are exactly the same as legit issue Swedish M90Ls except for the tags. I have a set of these as well as a set of Swedish issue M90ls with proper tags . There is no difference except for the tags.

These trousers and shirts  are legit de milled *Swedish M90L uniforms.

Have no idea who is doing the de milling and attaching  non military type labels, but the uniforms are great, and in most occasions, in new condition ( with a funny smell, for awhile ).

Great bargains considering this type of quality.

    * Demilling in this case resulted in the removal of original labels and national flags/ insignia. In some other cases, labels are defaced, and/or garments are cut,or torn.

    Welcome fish_thrower!

This is legitimate Mk3 M90L (light weight) trousers that came out in a very large batch 5 or so years ago. All were brand new with their original tags removed and replaced with simple measurements and a Human figure outline. The jacket had its flag and peace keeper badges removed from the left arm.

Rip could very well be correct that these were surplus Chinese production, but when I see those they still have the real labels on them. Some excellent copies were made for Airsofters, but they have a label that is very close to the real military one and this label definitely isn't it.

My belief is these came from Sweden and were surplussed to a Finnish company for disposal. I base this on a political flap about Finnish companies getting surplus/disposal contracts instead of Swedish ones (IIRC it was around the same time). Further, the first place I saw them was through several Finnish Airsoft/outdoor military kit retailers. Since then they became fairly common on eBay and, likely, used examples showing up after being worn playing Airsoft or paintball.

Here is a picture of my jacket with genuine badging restoring it to original condition. You can barely see the neck tag and that it is the same as the one above. The last picture shows what the real label looks like for a M90L jacket.

    Steve

Thank you to both ripcord and Steve for your help. This clarifies things immensely; thanks for the new knowledge.

My mind's at ease now, so I'm looking forward to wear these well over the years.
