My guesses are either a well made commercial copy, an in theatre one off private commission from a local tailors, a trials item or made to order for Ops in a specific camouflage pattern for use by "them".

IIRC, this is an SASS (aftermarket supplier of combat equipment during the 80's and 90's, especially of smocks and the Close Order Protection [COP] load-baring vest) smock. If not, it is another one of the companies in England around this time (70's-00's) that produced a lot of "Ally" kit.

My guess was SASS as well. I was tempted to buy one when I was living there in '88 and would get their catalogs. A neat find all the same.
