Here's all my Thai stuff for now, though always looking out for interesting pieces!
The first set I ever found, an older ERDL/Leaf pattern uniform patched to a Captain (Jirasak Phornrangsrisadee?), an Airborne Ranger cavalryman from what I can tell.
Unknown unit as unfortunately there is ghosting from a missing patch on the left sleeve and arched tab from the right.
Despite appearing to have button closures, the buttons are actually sewn over snap/popper closures, and the front "button" closure is actually hiding a zipper.
There's a couple pen slots hidden under the armpit, and the colors interestingly have faded so that the "black" (which is actually a dark blue) has faded to purple in some spots.
This set has been in storage for awhile, but I'll try to dig it out sometime to get more detailed pics of all its strange features.
A more recent, probably 2000's era ERDL/Leaf coat, named to Sgt.Maj.1st Class Chana Phuang Ngoen, an infantry Airborne Ranger assigned to the King's Guard.
There's also a couple unknown text patches on the collar and above the jump wings which are so sloppily sewn that even Thai speakers I asked couldn't tell what they say.
Infantry collar badge
The circular King's Guard badge, Ranger badge, and name tape.
Sgt. Maj. 1st Class rank patch, and the unknown text patch on each collar.
Jump wings and another unknown text patch.
And a Royal Thai Army and some sort of serial/contract number stamped inside the bottom front of the hem.
An older 80's or 90's ERDL/leaf M1 helmet cover, no markings.
An older, probably 80's Thai Marines ERDL/leaf jungle jacket
A later 90's or 2000's Thai Marines jungle jacket, in a brighter, more blobby ERDL/leaf pattern with insignia to a Narittama Somarak, a Thai Recon Marine assigned to the 1st Infantry Regiment.
Also a utility cover in the same pattern, but not matching to the jacket, which is ripstop while the cover is not.
Some full color jump wings, not sure how old but the three-elephant ones seem to be the current/more recent, so maybe these are 80's or older?
A curious ERDL/leaf magazine bearing vest, with eight open-top, snap retained pockets each holding a single 20rd M14/M16 magazine.
It's adjustable via the four front ties, and has zero other features.
The tag indicates a 2527 (1984) contract date, and allegedly these factory-made military issue vests are descendent of field/tailor-made examples made by Thai forces during Vietnam.
These simpler vests were replaced sometime in the mid-late 90's by a newer version with more varied pockets, as well as a hot weather version which featured a netted body for heat dissipation.
One of these vests, possibly a field/tailor made progenitor.
A Vietnam War-era six pocket bandoleer, unsure what exactly its origins are, but these were seen on Thai Forward Air Guides, often attached to and also donned by USAF Raven Forward Air Controllers.
This example is unissued and came out of Japan and has only a single blue character stamp, I'm not sure if they were a CIDG/CISO item or Thai issue.
Some USAF Ravens:
And last for now, a Thai-reissued IJA Type 90/M30-32 helmet, repainted a lighter shade of green over the original Japanese ochre, punched out the IJA star and lining/chinstrap and installed a Thai Army Chankra badge and M26 Adrian type lining and chinstrap, which have sadly rotted off this example.
These were seen a bit in the postwar era but my guess is that they had a sort of stigma around them, as despite how many flooded the surplus market, they are very rare in photos and the older Thai Adrian helmet continue to be more commonly seen well into the 1960's-70's when Thailand received mass quantities of US M1 helmets, and some older collectors I talked to recalled first seeing mass imports of these Thai reissue Type 90's in the 1970's.
These green ones with the Chankra badge are Thai Army issue, however I have also seen black ones with anchor badges reissued to the Thai Navy/Marines, and white ones with large gold badges reissued to police.
All for now, enjoy!
