South Korean Woodland Desert Uniform Variants

There appears to be at least three different cuts of the Woodland based South Korean desert uniform. Each is described below with my own labels to keep them separated:

Type One

This is in the exact same cut as the 6 color desert uniform which preceded the woodland based one. No arm pocket, button cuffs. Neck tag the same as 6 color desert jacket sample in my collection.



Type Two

Same as Type One but with pocket on left arm. Neck tag identical.



Type Three

Same as Type Two but with wider, velcro cuffs. Neck tag info is identical, but the style of the tag is different.


I am assuming that none of these differences are due to branch of service. The reason I think that is I have two HALO/SCUBA para jackets, one with the arm pocket and one without. Anybody have any different variants?

Does anyone know what the qualification badge on the right breast (above the nametag) is? I have the same insignia on a number of Korean uniforms I own - perhaps their version of the CIB???

I'm pretty sure that is a branch of service badge. I've got another uniform with a medical services type symbol on it.

Neat pattern...is this still current issue?

If I am not mistaken, it is equal to our "regimental DUIs" that go above our nametags on class "A" and "B" uniforms (Civil Affairs,SF, Inf,Quartermaster ect)and is for their Army Ranger (Yo Gyuen Dae),Special Forces ("Tuk Soo Boo Dae"),Civil Affairs (Meen Gahn Jee Oohn) or their Long Range surveillance-type unit (Jiahng Goh Lee Jung Chahl Dae)

It is either Infantry or Armor,and I am leaning toward Infantry, their version of Long Ranger Surveillance Company. You can see for yourself here:

2 diamonds=1st Lt (I think)
3 chevrons=Master Sgt
1 chevron=Staff Sgt

Cool! Thanks JJ! One of the things that I really like about most Asian uniforms is that generally they LOVE to have badges all over things.

Ben, this is current issue. Before this they used a US 6 Color Desert knockoff, but in the same cut as the first type shown above.
