British Combat Body Armour Lightweight Mark 1
A Canadian sourced example of British Combat Body Armour Lightweight Mark 1 with a Canadian military "D" Disposal mark. It is likely this example dates from the United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Observer Mission (UNIKOM) circa 1991-93. A quantity of British Desert DPM camouflage uniforms were acquired and worn by Canadians taking part in that mission. No images or records of this pattern being worn by Canadians in Afghanistan have as yet come to light.

Re: U.K. Desert armor cover ???
Pretty much what Steve said:
It's an Operation Granby (Gulf War 1) era combat body armour cover. These were worn by UK troops during the first Gulf War. I know Canadians also wore limited quantities of Desert DPM for some time.
If the vest you're looking to buy is the exact one pictured, it seems to be in very good condition. Armour vest covers are generally inexpensive... I paid 4.99 USD for mine over the summer, and new ones are sometimes a little bit more pricey, but not too bad.
P.S. -- If you want the look of the vest for your collection/display, but don't want to fight with the expense of acquiring actual kevlar filler (it can be pricey and very expensive to ship), you can trace the outside shape of the vest onto foam rubber and cut it out to fit inside of the vest. This is what I did with my DDPM cover that's in my collection, since I didn't want to spend so much on a vest (plus ungodly international shipping fees). It looks great and fills out like the real thing, and the only obvious difference is the weight.

Re: U.K. Desert armor cover ???
Is this first version harder to find ?? the pockets are different from the common version you see on Ebay , I have not seen too many of the MK 1 ??
BTW this one is coming from a seller in Canada so I imagine this was a Canadian issue one .

Re: U.K. Desert armor cover ???
These are the older combat body armour covers, which were "on loan" to the CF from the UK MoD back in the 1990s. So I guess in a roundabout way they technically are Canadian-issue, although they were originally manufactured by UK MoD contractors. The "D" marked on the vest to the link posted earlier denotes it was a disposal, meaning it was either set to be destroyed or released into the surplus market.
The MK-1 is still sourceable, but is old enough that most remaining stocks have most likely been purchased or disposed of, hence why so many MK-2 covers seem to flood the market.

Re: U.K. Desert armor cover ???
What also makes this all the more desirable is that it appears to be made from the 'sparse' DDPM material. If it was me I'd snap it up in a heartbeat.
