A Gentle Reminder Empty A Gentle Reminder

Post by nkomo Mon Mar 15, 2010 5:47 pm

This is just a reminder to all our members who live on the eastern and southern part of the US....the temperatures are starting to warm up, rain is starting to fall, and the humidity is on the rise. Be sure to dig out your dehumidifiers and turn them on. This decreases the amount of moisture in the air and cuts down on condensation that can form in tote boxes or closely hung uniforms.

Heh... I'm still using wood heat every day, so I'm still struggling to keep relative humidity above 30%! But your point is well taken. My basement is already getting seepage from melting snow, so the time to start dealing with that is near at hand.

Damn if that isn't timely advice, I was just thinking about plugging the dehumidifier in the other day.

I store most of mine in a fairly dry place, but I may get a small dehumidifier for my closet. Any suggestions? Is there even such a thing as a battery-powered dehumidifier?
