    During my searches in web I came across such photo it cames from the www.casperplatoon.com site. My question is, what model of vest they are wearing?Anyone seen one live?

    This looks like a very early pattern Aircrew uniform, patterned similar to 1st Model Jungle. The Aircrew uniforms usually have some similarity to the current ground soldier uniform. But personally I've never seen this particular uniform so my guess is only a guess Smile

    i think he is referring to the fact it looks like the pockets and name tapes are on some kind of vest because you can also see that there's 2 collars of sorts...as in theyre wearing 2 items over a t shirt..the normal jacket, or uniform, then the vest of some sort? I do not know what type of vest, for a moment thought you were referring to the harness attached to the pilot, but i noticed extra material over the shoulder of the underlying jacket...and the fact there seems to be a ring or some sort above the cap(something) tape...

    What ever it is, its very reminiscent of the WW2 survival vest as far as style but it also looks like a uniform top that has had the sleeves removed and altered into a vest. Judging from the M60 (bungee cord, C-Rations Can by the feed tray, live ammunition) my guess is that its a local modification by this unit in Vietnam.
