I would like to inform you guys about a new type of Lithuanian camo uniform. According to my friends back in Lithuania right now, the scouts( recon)from one battalion are wearing the new one.

Re: New 2011 camo uniform
They're going to have to develop a new pattern just to break the MultiCam monotony!
This is a very interesting uniform, though.

Re: New 2011 camo uniform
Very nice!! I think it's a shame to lose their previous camo because it is distinctive and does look to be fairly effective.
I would not go so far as to say this is Multicam derived. It uses similar colors, but the concept of the shapes is quite different.

It was clearly made to copy the ideas behind Multicam (IE: Multiple layers, color scheme, and blending of colors), while still keeping the classic lines of the Lithuanian camo that came before it. That is kind of like saying MTP isn't a Multicam derivative because it has the DPM shapes.
No offense or anything mate, but we might have to agree to disagree

Re: New 2011 camo uniform
Yeah, no way I'm going to agree
What makes Multicam a unique pattern? The color fading technique, overlapping layers, undefined shapes, and colors. Correct?
There's no color fading I can see in this new Lithuanian pattern. And even if there was, the Bundeswehr claims credit for that technique back in 1955.
Overlapping layers is something this patten has, but so do various Lizard, Leibermuster, Woodland, DPM, etc. patterns. So it's more correct to say Multicam follows one of two primary splits in camouflage pattern making... overlapping vs. non-overlapping.
What about the shapes? Multicam has no hard edges or distinctly discernible shapes, which is what the Lithuanian pattern is all about. This new Lithuanian pattern is more akin to a Splinter type pattern that has been put into a food processor.
Colors are the only thing I'd say that the Lithuanians were influenced by Multicam. But what of it? French CCE and US Woodland are similar colors to DPM, but I don't think it's right to say they are derived from it.
From my perspective the single most important thing to think about when using the term "derived" is if an experienced collector could get this pattern confused with Multicam. The answer to this, in my mind, is a solid "no". MTP, on the other hand, is a solid "yes". Which is not surprising because MTP *is* a derivative of Multicam, so says the UK Ministry of Defense (got an article around here somewhere).
For me, this pattern is not only unique from Multicam, but I'd say it is one of the most unique patterns I've seen in several years of Digital and Multicam variations on theme.

Re: New 2011 camo uniform
The following quote is from a BBC report back in 2009. "British Army to get new camouflage uniform", by Daniel Emery.
Yeah, anybody saying MTP isn't a derivative of Multicam is going to have a hard time convincing a jury of that
Steve
The Army's Infantry Trials and Development Unit and the government's Defence Science and Technology Laboratory tested a number of different designs in the UK, Cyprus, Kenya, and Afghanistan before selecting the MTP design.
Developed by Crye Precision, MTP is developed from the firm's MultiCam pattern, currently used by some special forces units.

Re: New 2011 camo uniform
Hi Steve,
I think this type of uniform for now used for overseas missions. On the last photo, the mjr. is part of "Somali pirates" operation. And one more comment about Lithuanian camo uniforms. We have the law now, not to sale the camo for civilians/collectors. Because of Ukraine( Crimea) conflict "green people". So it will be hard to get one of them.Vitalis

Re: New 2011 camo uniform
Thanks for the answer! OK, so the uniform is now being used in a similar way to US Multicam. I wonder if that will change when all stocks of the current uniform are used.
The desert uniforms were always hard to get, now I guess it's going to be even harder to get the new one!

Re: New 2011 camo uniform
It has been commented upon that I usually photograph uniforms hanging from a washing line in my garden(yard in the USA). This is true but it is handy. For the gardeners amongst us, the bush in the background is a Berberis Darwinii which is just coming into an Orange flower. I could take a photo of my Malaysian Fire Fighters suit on the line but you would not be able to see it! I obtained the Lithuanian suit from a UK contact on a recent visit.

Re: New 2011 camo uniform
I believe that photos should always be placed in context so here are two photos of the offending washing line and Berberis bush taken recently when recording snow which is a rare enough event for me to photograph,
