Genuine issue light weight ripstop service shirt from Hungary's contribution to the Multinational Force and Observers mission in the Sinai desert.

Nice stuff Steve! Note this is the early (1999-2000) version of the 4 colour tropical uniform (still in the same cut as the "Hurrikan" uniform), replaced very soon by the M2000 tropical/summer uniform (in the cut of the M90 uniform). The main difference this early tropical uniform was issued only for peacekeepers, while the M2000 became a general issue summer uniform.

Thanks Tamas for that information!! I did not know this was so rare. Some countries have a separate, light short sleeved shirt, as an optional part of the uniform. I thought this was such a shirt. Much happier to know it's much nicer Smile

You are right, the french, the dutch etc. really have such shirts. But we, hungarians are different :-) Instead of such practical items we better change full uniforms ... To this shirt a matching trousers also exist, in the same cut as the "Hurrikan" trousers, so withouth cargo pockets and with back (patch) pockets. While the M2000 tropical/summer trousers are made with cargo pockets and withouth back pockets, cut like the M90 trousers.

Otherwise did you note your shirt belonged to a female soldier originally? The ending letters on the name tape "-né" means Mrs. in hungarian. So, she called Mrs. Christmas (as Christmas is Karácsony in hungarian). And her rank was WO3.

Well, it is female because of the name tape only. Otherwise there is no difference between male and female combat uniform - HDF combat suits are "unisex" ...

I'm sorry that's incorrect Steve! The black skirt is part of the parade/mess dress female uniform. However a camouflage skirt was never issued to the M90 uniform, but if you collect a M65 female combat uniform, that was produced with female trousers + skirt (YES! short OG "combat" skirt ... don't ask what was the purpose of that garment except a possible morale boosting when issued for pretty young ladies).

I could maybe find a set for you ... but the matching size can cause problems if you wanted to wear it :-)

heh Very Happy I don't normally try to collect female specific uniforms because usually there isn't much difference except a little tailoring. But I do have a Czech Jelici skirt for some reason!

The M65 female combat uniform was very different from the male model: different cap (beret), shirt with reversed button-line, side-zippered female pants, skirts, female combat boots.
