Very interesting pattern comparisons, Gilles! I really like the French desert pattern.

It's very strange.. Air Forces are idlers.
Real combat units need this pattern more, than Air Forces.

Is this uniform for a specific purpose or unit type? It seems a lot more practical compared to the more complicated (and heavier!) version.

    Hi,

    You're right it's the T4 S2 uniform.

The first FELIN type  is referred to as : veste/pantalon de combat T3 (combat jacket/trouser T3)
The second FELIN type is referred to as: veste/pantalon de combat Nouvellle Generation (combat jacket/trouser New Generation)
The third FELIN type is referred to as : veste/pantalon de combat T4 serie 2 (combat jacket/trouser T4 Serie 2)

The second FELIN uniform type is sometime  referred to as T4 Serie 1 ( T4 S1 ).

I know the gen 1 had bellows upper pockets on the smock but what are the differences between gen 2 and 3?

    Hi,

    Main différences:

Gen 2 (T4 S1 or New Generation) : huge pocket on the back of the jacket + straps on each arm and each leg+ no shoulder tabs.
Gen 3 (T4 S2 ): no more pocket on the Back + no straps   +  new shoulder tabs.

For T4 S1, look at Von Stuck previous post: june 7th 2014
For T4 S2, look at Jîmmyduncan23 previous post

    Hope It helps

    Mellon.

Thanks for that.I wasn't sure.it seems they just tidied up the design.Funny they decided to go back to shoulder epaulettes. If worn under body armour those buttons would dig into the wearers shoulders.
