Here's another great Grenada item I had put away.
This belonged to the commander of the 2nd battalion, 325th Infantry, when he given his Bronze Star with sixth oak leaf cluster for actions during Grenada.

I served in the 2/325th AIR from 1987-90. Colonel "MAD" Jack Hamilton was the brigade commander part of that time.....Amazing history to him....Special Forces in Vietnam.

BTW, he was a very strong man....he dropped in on me and some of buddies while we were lifting @ Tucker Field house (just behind 325th Brigade HQ off Ardenes Drive (Ft. Bragg). We had 325 lbs racked on the bench; he kinda just crashed in on our group and got on the bench. If memory served me correctly, he did 2-3 reps without a spot. No bad for a dude in his 50's @ the time.....

1988....OP 3-3 Sinai Egypt. He and CSM Henderson were visiting the 2/325th on it's 6 month MFO rotation. He spent several hours with our squad. I recall him telling pointers and principles of a good soldier, ect .....I also remember him talking about times when he was a private and the stuff he had gone throught to get to where he was....Pretty Hooah stuff.

Hats off to him Like a Star @ heaven

    Just saying,
    MZ

Also, curious to this items path to your collection....

MZ-Sorry for the delay in responding.
I bought a collectors collection who had been in the 325, and that was all he collected, WWI to present.
One day he came in my shop and sold me everything. The only thing I kept was this group.
    Hope this helps.

Capt. Jack Hamilton was my father's company commander in Co. A 1/505th Infantry 82nd Airborne Division in Vietnam 1968 to 1969. His first tour in Vietnam was in the early 60's as an enlisted man on TDY with a Special Forces Detachment during the advisory period. I believe he then received a commission through OCS. There should be an Army Good Conduct Medal on his ribbon rack in the photo you posted.

He was medevaced from the field for wounds he received from a booby trap near the Cambodian border on March 24, 1969, during an action in which he earned the Bronze Star for Valor. I have a copy of the general orders with the citation for that and his Purple Heart from the same date if you're interested.

I have some photos of him in Vietnam if you're interested. However, as a new member to this forum, I cannot post them yet. Here is a link to a picture of Capt. Hamilton taken in early 1969 when the 1/505th Infantry was operating near the Cambodian border.

    Thought I would add a follow-up.

Jack Hamilton is the brother of Gen. Bill Hamilton with the Calif. State Reserves. I have known Bill since I was a kid and he called me to tell me that was his brother, and that Jack's ex-wife got pissed and dumped all this stuff in the trash years ago. That Jack hadn't seen the certificate since the divorce. Jack now has the certificate in his possession again as I felt that is where it belonged.
