Gaiters-German BW maybe?? Empty Gaiters-German BW maybe??

    Post by Gulf91 Thu Feb 16, 2012 2:48 pm

These came along with a bundle of other 1990s German BW bits so going by the plastic fittings think they might possible be German Bundy issue???

Lightweight nylon rip-stop material with no markings at all that i can find.

    Thanks

Could agree with you by the plastic fittings but... no A stamp in surplus material out of Bundeswehr? Could be Rolling Eyes

    Best regards

That fastener system is being used by many countries now, so that alone is no longer a good indicator. If these are used then there should be an "A" stamp somewhere if it is BW. Although they don't look like the current BW Flecktarn type, they could very well be from the 1986-1992 timeframe.

Hello Steve, yep aware that other countries now use the "Spanish" system of web closure so could be one of many countries, reason i mentioned BW was that they came from the same source as the mainly unissued BW bits ive just bought.

    Thanks

BW is a good guess. However, BW has their stuff pretty well marked. There should be clear markings of some sort, usually a white label. If they are used they should have a large "A" inked on them somewhere. If none of this is present then it's doubtful they are BW stock items. Could be private unit purchase, though.

As i have never owned anything Spanish before,is it unusual to have no form or markings, labels etc?

I meant to mention that the lack of markings is consistent with Spanish. Their field gear rarely has anything on it, even current kit. Older uniform stuff also usually has nothing on it either, often because they liked using adhesive labels which (obviously) came off during use. However, since the 1980s the basic uniform components are pretty well marked. Though not necessarily easy to read due to wash/wear, the locations and styles are pretty consistent and therefore not difficult to confirm.
