Re: Branch service tapes
I like the 2 on the bottom left!! Never seen any like that before. I've got a few of the other desert ones. I picked them up in the PX in 93. I've never seen any on a jacket tho.

Re: Branch service tapes
Thanks for looking and for your comments Fins.
Good point , these do seem weird in that they were issued but not worn?
I bought a packet of x 10,a few years ago, that were in the original packet, with US contractors numbers etc on the packet, the packaging is long gone, does make me wonder why these were not readily worn on 6 colour DBDU's,Most of the ref pics from the Gulf War I've seen have OD branch tapes sewn on,were they issued too late to be worn I wonder?
The two in the Bottom left, I'm not even sure they are US Gov isssue.
Thanks again, and have a good Xmas Mate

I have a few like those 2 but in OD and have always been suspicious of them as have never seen any in use in period pics.

Re: Branch service tapes
The OD ones I have seen used.. There were early ones on twill with either OD or black border that are late Vietnam War era. I also had an OD poly/cotton shirt with one on it that was also poly/cotton. I still have the shirt packed up somewhere. He was a DI with TRADOC and had a MACV as combat patch. There was evidence of a round patch where the DI patch is on the pocket and a 3rd Corps patch on the left sleeve where the TRADOC patch is. It also had ARVN jump wings. I think tghe shirt was dated in the early 80's. If I can find it, I'll get a picture. I was told they are all private purchase PX items, but I know the early ones were issue at one point because my best friend's dad still had his shirts and jackets and it had the twill version. I think the later poly/cotton version is PX purchase tho.
