Re: -----------
The top 'brush camo' poncho is made of 1970's era Malaysian Army camouflage material. I recall commercially made '58 pattern webbing made in this material and being available in Hong Kong in the early '80s. Somehow though, I doubt this was made in South Korea but probably somewhere else in Asia.
I have seen 'choc chip' Brit webbing and pack elsewhere and believe it was made for one of the other Western-aligned gulf states (perhaps U.A.E.?) rather than the new Iraqi Army.

The UK had a run of 3 color desert gear in the early 2000's for the UAE, I have a Airtex 3 color USA desert suit from the contract. You could go to any good surplus store and buy UAE desert boots with zips,PLCE webbing in desert and the 120Ltr PLCE Bergen again in desert.

Re: -----------
Actually, that Malaysian poncho appears to be related to a commercial piece. A local shop here in the US had scads of them at one time. They are made from nylon and are definitely recent made. This particular one, as Dariush shows, is a bit lighter color than the ones that were sold locally, so the two types aren't made of exactly the same material. Same design from what I can tell.

Oh, I think the one you have looks much nicer than the one I have The commercial versions I've seen are much darker, but still the same camouflage pattern and construction. I assume the Iraqi one you have is made from nylon?
I never knew Iraqi forces used rain gear like this. Iraq bought so many small batches of military equipment over many decades. It's so very hard to keep track of all the possibilities!
Thanks for sharing the pictures and information.

Even better
I have a few shelter/ponchos like this. I think the soldier wearing it would be more wet from sweat than he would rain!
