Re: Airforce Blue camo and beret
According to my source this BDU is getting rare, and its not you always see nowadays. just got this from a guy whos father is in the airborne. Here in the Philippines Lawmakers once again will pass a law prohibiting citizens from wearing Military and Police uniforms big fines plus jail terms await the lawbreakers.:-Sfilupe wrote:That's a real nice uniform - are these readily available?

Re: Airforce Blue camo and beret
its not an airborne issue jacket. The owner of this, his family lives in a Armed Forces of the Philippines Housing in south of the capital. maybe they have an airforce guy neighbor and gave this uniform a long time ago.:-)59tankbat wrote:Very different in blue,so thats a Airborne issue jacket?, and in green colors its regular airforce services?

I have two sets of these and they use slightly different patterns. They are very nice to look at!

Re: Airforce Blue camo and beret
I have "issue' set of these from my father...the story behind was as colorful as these blues...It was phased out after a year or so...
A brief story: A former Commanding General of the Air Force (CGPAF) wanted the air force to have a set of BDUs (Battle Dress Unifs) that will identify their branch of service (similar to the "chopsuey" of the Marines, the tiger stripes of the NavSOG and the Black Suit of the Rangers) so his command proposed the Camo Blue...It was turned down by the Uniform Board because it doesn't serve its function as a battle dress attire because of its color and pattern...That same CGPAF later on designated at AFP Chief of Srtaff (AFPCS) thus the Blue Camo was implemented under his orders. When he retired the same goes with the uniform.
It was never used in combat even by the Combat Units of the Air Force...they are used by MPs and serve as Parade Uniform though...There is another set that the Phil Air Force Patch and the AFP Coat of Arms are in Camo Blue Pattern (Reverse side) with black trimmings...
