Just got this little baby! Issued, good condition and correct label!
First one I've seen outside the service!

Nice! There is a thread here of a crew coverall that was made by a British company. Do you know anything about it?

I wrote a couple of lines in that thread and that coverall was, after my knowledge, used late 80's early 90's. Don't know if that was a part of some test that resulted in this one.

One reason for the Air force to get cammo overalls is the fact that the Swedish Air force would hit the road in case of war. We had a very built up system of road strips and service areas in the Woods of Sweden!

Thanks! That UK manufactured one looked "too good" to be a commercial reproduction. Plus, coveralls are not popular surplus items so it seemed doubtful a company in the UK would make fake coveralls.

Although it was once normal for European nations to purchase clothing within their own nation, budget issues have lead to more foreign competition. At the very least to keep domestic manufactures "honest" through competitive bidding. I have an official Dutch Army boonie hat submission from a German company even though at the time (I think) all items were made by Dutch companies. I've also seen Belgian submissions to UK and Germany, even though both of those nations make their own clothing.

Of course this all changed in the 2000s with outsourcing. Now it's anything goes Wink

Sri Lanka and Tunisia have been the main manufacturers of Swedish uniforms. Poland makes the desert uniforms and even China is starting to show up on the labels!
