I was wondering if the Molle II main pack can be used without a frame, or does the frame have to be attached to mount the shoulder straps?

Re: Question on MOLLE II Main Pack
Hi, from NZ but was a serious MOLLE 2 collector and had all types up to the MC variants (M1, M2, 10th Mountain Ruck etc). Answer is no, the frame allows the harness to attach. You could do it but you'll need to sew on a lot of attachment fittings and the pack wouldn't hold its shape.
If you get a USMC FILBE, they have made secondary attachment points to allow some of the harness to attach without the frame.
Also the intent of the frame is to allow so air circulation while warm as well as spread the load etc.

Re: Question on MOLLE II Main Pack
That's what I figured. Im currently using an Medium Alice Radio pack and was looking to switch over to a MOLLE pack. However, for my application, I don't think a MOLLE pack and frame would be a good choice.
