Congratulations for the beret!
The brown beret was at start only issued to the Special Hunters (Caçadores Especiais), when the infantry companies started to have different training more suited to the war in Africa they were re-classed as Hunter Companies (Companhias de Caçadores) and all infantry started using the brown beret.
The Comandos were also used the brown beret but had a different badge, after the war they started using red berets. Only one Comando's Company used a camo beret (unofficially in Guinea) for a wile.
Today the brown beret its still the standard beret of the Portuguese Army. The other colors still in use are:
. Brown beret - Army
. Green beret - Paratroopers
. Brownish green beret - Army Rangers (Special Ops)
. Dark blue - Marines
. Sky blue - Air Force Police
