    I was not aware of the these epaulette-type rank-slip-ons. Are they worn very commonly compared to the chest-type?

    Some very nice uniform displays here.

    I think the epaulettes ranks are used for parade , during rest and ceremonies

    for service , patrols , exercices and combat , chest types are used

    Bonjour,

    Slip on with ranks are used with "Terre de France" walking out dress and the best BDU during parades. In the field or in the barracks, the chest ranks are used.
    However, during the early 90's peacekeeping missions under the UN flag, the slip on with ranks were worn in the field.
