New Old Stock 1968 ERDL

Took awhile but finally added an NOS ERDL blouse to my NOS 1968 dated  trousers and boonie . Not easy to find this stuff in this conditions and sizes..

The following blouse is even harder to find in decent conditions. Made in limited quantities; mostly issued to Marines and SF.
I can probably forget about finding matching trousers.

Blouses of this type were officially called :coat,man's,cotton wt poplin camouflage pattern ,etc. is a lightly used early non ripstop example.

These types were introduced in 1967 and replaced with ripstop types in 1968.

                                                         

                                                                           

                                                                            


Next is a coat,man's, camouflage cotton,wind resistant poplin, class 2; lightly used 1968 example.

I just went through a pile of ERDL shirts I got for $35 in Australia. from perth WA apparently from ex sas Vietnam vet. it has a Cotton ERLD shirt and both green and brown ERLD ripstop. how rare is the cotton ERDL

Pretty rare. I know of another ex-SASR non-ripstop poplin ERDL blouse. Seems they had a pretty good relationship getting the latest US stuff at the time. I suspect they even got a load of ERDL SEAL Float Coats as well, as there have been a few of these trickling out of WA over the years ...

Cotton ERDL is not extermely hard to find,  But ....conditions vary from crap to mint.   Larger sizes are stupid rare; larger sizes in clean to mint conditions are virtually extinct.

Have to remember that the large majority of regular US soldiers and Marines sent to Vietnam were young and tended to use medium to smaller sizes.

Great that you have both brown and green variety of ERDL..Brown is scarcer, of course, but  brown material was used almost exclusively in the follow up RDF uniforms.


Can you see the date of the brown ERDL ??  My brown ERDL is dated 1970.
Very hard to find earlier dates as far as I know..

Nicer examples are getting more scarce each year; big sizes virtually extinct.
