"Bodan" (Askania) Marching Compass Empty "Bodan" (Askania) Marching Compass

Post by Antarmike Mon May 22, 2017 7:19 pm

I seek information on the "Bodan" Marching compass.

Can anyone point me to a likely time period for Use?

Was there a pouch for this compass?  If not where and how would it be carried.

I presume the number following ABL is a sequential serial number for the actual compass?   Do we know how many were made or issued?

    Thank you in advance,

As you will see the compass is marked in both degrees and rationalised Mils.

I have now found a manual,  It is dated 1957 so I seem to have tied down a time period.  I was hoping the manual might show what case was supplied,  sadly it does not, so I still seek info regarding pouch or case I need to find for this item.  Thanks

I am not familiar with any purpose-made Belgian compass pockets. Possibly it was just carried in a jacket pocket.

Similar compass supplied to other countries came with a leather wallet, I wonder if anyone has ever seen one. There is a Belgian leather compass case for sale in NZ at the moment but I have no way of knowing if it will fit this compass.
