Re: Para-commando display
Splendid, One question though. I am struggling to find a Belgian grenade that sits happily and securely in the side grenade loops of the magazine pouches. Have you any idea what grenades the Belgians might have carried in these? Does anyone have any in service photos?

Excellent presentation! Those trousers are tough to find. Great to see them in matching condition with the smock.

Re: Para-commando display
I have tried M72 / PRB 423 / PRB 446 but I was never entirely happy with how they sat (but obviously the pouch was designed for an American grenade, not a Belgian one.belgium_one wrote:Hello

Have you any pictures of how the grenades were carried/
i have found two possible ways it could be done but i don't want to incorrectly display the item!
xrrying with the spoon outside the pouch works but ovviusly there is some danger of the ring catching something and the pin being pulled, the spoon is then free to fly of, then 4 seconds later you realise (or don't as the case may be) that you didn't want to do that!
They will fit with the spoon inside the pouch where is less likely to catch, but the way the dtrap and the popper close does not seem as natural
Either way the pouch seems too big for the grenades.

Re: Para-commando display
There was some discussion of the grenade problem on the M71 webbing thread. The short of it was that little straps were sewn underneath the pockets and/or the pockets were removed.

Very nice display. I think I had that Raids issue. Is Raids magazine still around?

Grenade is practice grenade, either PRB Nr282 or M73prac, it is a hollow practice version, cast in aluminium of the M72 (PRB nr 423 / Nr 446 grenade) Grenade is fitted with a fuse that produces noise and smoke, but which does not explode the grenade. The grenade body is reusaeble many times 9I have seen 100 times quoted somewhere)
detonated sound and smoke fuse (deflagrator)
Combat version of grenade, plastic body with internal framentaion wire coil and ball bearing

Re: Para-commando display
Looks like that's a SADF type bayonet scabbard on the right in the pic where they're looking at the Raids magazine, looking at the direction the handle is oriented
