Its a completely made up pattern .
I met a guy who made a repo of the pattern at a show a couple of years ago .
He was a nut for the film and went all out in his impression.
I own a SLR with a m-203 made from rubber from the film though!!!!!!

A number of the high end fashion designers actually make camouflaged clothing that attract the rich and famous. I always thought this was the origin of Snake's pants.

The Rock concert spandex is a good guess too.

Forget Snake, what was the Gal wearing! Smile

I believe the camo was called ASAT. I might be wrong but it was coming out when the original Treebark camo was on the market. There were a lot of short lived hunting and military-type camos during that time.

Oddly enough guys put all that stuff one them and a 'slow fire' kit to slow the ROF and they run circles around all the MP-5 guys in competition.

But yea, I agree overkill, but made for a great movie gun as a kid. Laughing

Since this thread has been bumped, I'd like to call your attention to the fact that ASAT hasn't gone anywhere.

It's sold as hunting clothing now, and they also seem to have dropped the gray & red "urban" variant.

I believe this is one of the most functional camos to have arrived in the 20th century.

Whatever this was, it definitely influenced James Cameron.
    http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/5467982

USCM camo favored the same flavor; grey/brown/black, with a similar bias-- Jim added olive to it & condensed it-- but I find it hard to believe he wouldn't have at least been paying some kind of homage to John Carpenter when he did it.
