    I have four or five of these shirts, I believe they went with the P49 Battledress uniform.

    Any idea what the extra buttons are for just under the collar points?

    Cant say I know, however my godfather served in the Forces from '55 up until the 80s and hes a wealth of knowledge on any kit inbetween those eras. I will be going to visit him later today and I will get back to you on that if he knows.

    I do believe the extras are to button the collar open. On my shirts this seems to work.

    wILL GIVE it a try.

    Also somewhere have a US WW2 type 5 button wool sweater that also has buttons in a similar position.
