All right, first post in this section!
Ok so I know what you're thinking "swag, this is an American award, I see this ribbon on Ike jackets all the time." Correct this ribbon is found on Ike's but it is not an American award, it was awarded by the Philippine Government to US soldiers. (there are actually three medals awarded by the PI Gov't to US servicemen, the other two being the Defense and Independence medal's) This is the Philippine Liberation Medal and it was awarded to personnel who participated in the liberation of the Philippine Islands from 17 OCT 1944 to 02 SEP 1945. It was originally a ribbon award only. Not until July 1945 did it become a medal.
