Pack field Cargo1945 Empty Pack field Cargo1945

Post by Easy Gee Mon Sep 03, 2012 4:00 pm

    Hi Guys.
I dug this one out of storage , this one is in mint condition and named to a Vaughn, with the possibility of a service number, clearly dated 1945.
My question is, are there any webbing straps missing, as I suspect it is incomplete, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers Smile

Gary, you need that top pack to be able to use it. The bottom pack was for non combat kit and only expected to be carried when everyhting else in the ensemble was being worn.

Shelby Stanton's book http://www.amazon.co.uk/U-S-Army-Uniforms-World-War/dp/0811725952/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1346743662&sr=8-9 is well worth the money. Actually, his ones on Korea and Vietnam are also good references to have on the shelf for uniforms and equipment. He explains it all so much better than I ever could.

As I'm at work I can't photo the relevant page and post it here (might also be copyright issues too ......)

    Cheers, Dave
