Size conversion guide Empty Size conversion guide

Post by Longshaor Sun Sep 02, 2012 11:36 pm

    Hi all,

Maybe I'm just searching the wrong terms, but I can't find any sort of guide for converting the old, pre-metric, sizing system to the current one. Anyone know where I can find one? Specificly I've seen a couple different claims about what size "Size 4" shirts convert to, and the trouser system seems even more convoluted. ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers!

I am not sure about pre 70s shirts, but i have several pieces of shirts which says size 4- and always seems to fit the discription of 170/96

    trousers- no idea

Thanks, that was a huge help! I found some annicdotal references to the system for trousers on the HMVF forum, however not enough to put together a list for cross-referencing sizes.

If anyone has a copy of the August 1986 QM Combat Clothing catologue, I'm told it has the full breakdown in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers!

If you're on HMVF then I suggest you ask Steve (WDBikemad). He is the font of much British kit wisdom Smile

I have a spreadsheet on a stik somewhere that has all the British pre and post NATO sizing as well as British WW2 and US sizings. If only I could find it ..........
