a couple of VN era patches Empty SOG Wings

Post by ripcord Mon May 06, 2013 12:36 am

    Hello Bob,

    Thanks for your comment.

The SOG wing came from the estate of a collector called J. R. Nace, and purchased from Mr. Douglas P. Charles.

The receipt states SOG Phoenix wing J.R. Nace estate.

    Hey all, Hey Bob,

I have posted a few Viet Nam era insignia and I would like you to look at them.

Have been a member of Chute& Dagger on and off since the early 80s.

Harry said these are bogus many years ago. I always respect his opinions ( but I still like them ).

The seller claimed the patches had been glued onto some sort of display board. I have not tried to remove any of the backing paper.

There is a possibility the CCS patch is legit, but I am not certain...

    Welcome any comments...

    Rip,

I think they are all repro's too. They look like they were all made by the same machine at the same time. I could be wrong tho. The CCS I'm certain is a repro. I had several of this one and another without the 1st Company tab back in the mod-80's. Decent repros. In my opinion, of the ones I had, the 1st Company ones lookd the best with at least cotton backing. The others looked good, but were wrong materials, synthetic thread, nylon cloth base, etc. I agree with you tho, they are all good looking patches!
