    Tiger Stripe Army + Airforce

Post by bravo_2_zero on Sun May 10, 2009 5:21 pm

    Army

    Airforce

based on the US M81 style but made on a budget and they show in the quality.
The Airforce pants are incredible cyclops The ink use is like a metallic quality about it, the blue shines like a high polished automobile

They should be i think, i got these early 2008.
I've done a quick google and there seems to be different prints in the same color. One uniform seems to a recolor of the army with big blue and black stripes, where as mine seems to be gray based stripes.

It could be a transitional thing and mine were latest issue at the time

The old marines vertical lizard/seaweed is terrific Danilo. They're not very common are they? I don't think I've ever seen one for sale.

Different variants of Greek lizard worn together in the late 1990s:

I've been trying to make sense of the various Greek Airforce patterns.  Based on my 4 examples and the ones here, I have determined there are 6 variations represented:

There seems to be 2 distinct underlying patterns.  The first (top left) is based on the older Greek pattern which is a less sophisticated Lizard pattern.  Meaning, the shapes are more rounded and less fine compared to the second type that is based more closely on French Lizard.  The remaining 5 patterns appear to be variations in terms of which colors are printed for each of the screens.  This produces a very wide range of overall looks.

The all share two common traits; 3 colors and one color is a shade of blue. The more recent ones appear to have a very vivid purple interior color.

There are also color variations from print runs. I received a uniform in it's original Chinese bags and identical tags, but there's a subtle difference in color strength between the jacket and trousers. So much so that at first glance I thought they might be different variants. In the end I determined they are the same, just slightly different colors.

Got this last week from Greece.

Made of ripstop 80-20 cotton-poly in the classic BDU cut.

Looks like  trousers and  blouse ( and cap ) have 2 different prints.

Cripes! There's almost as many different patterns as Greece has airplanes Smile Looks like your jacket is seen elsewhere in this thread, but not the trousers.

What is puzzling is I got a 2009 set in their plastic bags and they didn't match. The labels did, but not the patterns. That's really unusual.

    Out of cellophane bags ..

Labels match for the set , the cap dates 6 months earlier.

Some photos I came across looking for reference of Greek Marines in the 1980s and the "seaweed" pattern:
