    British sniper kit

Post by Scud on Mon Aug 19, 2013 12:18 pm

Found some more kit stashed away and thought I'd share it (hope I'm not boring people).

Goretex DPM sniper coveralls with a quilted lining.

    " />

Wired hood (that works better than the one on the arctic smock).

    " />

    " />

    Large pockets on rear.

    " />

Flap over information panel on left forearm.

    " />

Zips and Velcro to above knee.

    " />

    Sniper smock.

    " />

    Rear, complete with Welsh mud...

    " />

    Smock label.

    " />

The sling hook and padding was removed from the right arm (as they get in the way), foam padding on the right upper chest to absorb recoil.

    " />

    Elbow pads, and more mud...

    " />

Ghillie suit.  I'm only allowed to get this out when the wife's at work as it stinks of musty hessian and 'moults' everywhere Rolling Eyes .

    " />

    Rear of Ghillie.

    " />

Ghillie smock, sleeves removed at elbow, collar and one front pocket removed.  The zip was removed and it just closes with the original Velcro strips.

    " />

    Rear of smock.

    " />

Ghillie trousers, these haven't seen as much use as the smock.

    " />

    Rear of trousers.

    " />

    Knee pads.

    " />

Once again some stellar pieces.  I'm pretty sure 'Andy McNab' mentions using the Goretex sniper suit in his (first?  Wink  ) non-fiction work, 'Immediate Action'.

Cheers Lee, the Goretex suit is a cracking bit of kit, great for laying in frosty bracken for days on end.

And I think you're right mate, the rascal did mention using them in IA.
