    Hi all.

Here's a recent purchase which I believe to be a French TAP 47/56 hood. Are there different versions of these hoods,if so I would be interested to learn the different models.

    Enjoy.

I'm curious too. I also wonder if they were made in different sizes.

I bought a hood many, many years ago and it looks original. But the holes didn't line up for my TAP 47/56 jacket, which made me wonder about it. Definitely not Portuguese. Now that I have the other TAP models I suppose I should dig it out and see if it fits any of them, though I would think the button pattern would be the same.

Thanks for looking Steve, I would be very grateful to see other examples for comparison.

I bought this one from a reputable French dealer, but initially was a bit suspicious,I feel more relaxed about this one now.

I assume there are no hoods commercially available/manufactured ( but would not be at all surprised if there were ) !

To be honest my knowledge of the TAP jackets is limited, so the hoods are a slight mystery to you me too, good job there is a wealth of knowledge here, including yours of course!

    Cheers,Gary;)

    Hello Very Happy

Recently , I bought the same hood , in new condition . It can not be fixed on my jacket TTA 47/52 , which does not have the buttons behind the neck . I will use it to make a cover for my m51 helmet .

I forgot all about this topic! I still don't know where mine is or what it is for. It's hard to believe that some commercial operation would fake the hoods since there's no market for such a thing. However, I suppose it's possible.

    Hello,

Maybe one for a "foreign army"

French TAP 47-56 cu, is still use by Morocco (paratroopers), and here and there by West African countries.

Generally the lizard camo is the same as the one used at the end of the Algerian war ( light green + dark green + purple/red).

    Regards

Perhaps, but the Moroccan stuff tends towards a much brighter overall look, especially with red in the brown color. Other nations do not tend to use this pattern with thick HBT 100% cotton cloth, so that rules out pretty much everybody else.
