some unknown German badges Empty some unknown German badges

Post by Wolverine Sun Apr 12, 2020 4:34 pm

I have had these for years, and have never been certain about their identity.

Are the collar badges BGS? They have a green background.
The Gefreiter chevron is on a blue-gray background – Luftwaffe? Is it wartime, a repro, etc?
I am not sure if the wings are even German. Maybe someone will know.

Maybe the collar badges are Schutzpolizei?

    Schutzpolizei could be.

Thanks for the links. After further comparison, the construction seems identical to Schutzpolizei, although the colour of my pair seems darker green.

Sorry I'm late to the party Very Happy

As already sorted out, not BGS. The Gefreiter rank chevron is not worn by any post-WW2 service uniform. It was one of many traditional badges that was deliberately discontinued after 1945. The collar badges are similar to early Berlin Polizei, but if they came with the Gefreiter and other badge then probably they're also WW2 type (authentic or not, I can't say).
