First up, an unissued set of their first indigenous pattern, a sort of mixture of TTsKO and amoeba-like shapes.
The cut is mistakeably Soviet with some of the Latvian's own touches, similar to early post-independence Estonian/Lithuanian uniforms.
The coat.
Paper tags.
Thick shoulder boards for pinning/sewing rank insignia on
Pleated pockets with a stitchline straight across the chest on top of the upper pockets, and tailor's soapstone markings still under the pocket flaps.
Single velcro sleeve pocket, split cuffs, and large shoulder gussets.
The trousers, with a fabric tag and rear pockets.
They also have a divided magazine leg pocket, but one or the other leg pocket was supposed to close with three buttons, and the tailor accidently sewed either the wrong pocket flap or the third button onto the wrong pocket.
Next, an NBS Camouflage/LATPAT "Uzbrukuma Mugursoma" (Assault Backpack). These were designed by Saab Barracuda of Sweden, and produced by NFM Group of Norway for the Latvian military.
It's printed in the iconic NBS National Camouflage Pattern, better known as LATPAT.
It features:
-Padded back, hip pads, and shoulder straps
-Sternum and waist buckle straps (missing waist strap from this example)
-PALS/MOLLE loops all over and under
-Main zipper compartment with mesh hydration bladder pouch and velcro radio antenna ports
-Tube opening at top back and elastic loops on shoulder straps for hydration bladder tube
-Two secondary zipper pockets with internal zippered mesh pockets and felt lining
-Waterproof lining on bottoms of all compartments and bottom of pack
-Upper and lower buckle compression straps
A 1990's Latvijas Republikas Zemessardze (Latvian National Guard) patch, part felt, part vulcanized rubber.
And last for now, a modern Zemessardze patch for the 22nd Battalion, to be worn on the LATPAT uniform.
All for now, enjoy!
