Pentomico web gear.

Very rare Pentomico type web gear.

This web gear dates to late '50s and was used with M59 Pentomic camo pattern reversible uniforms and early M61s parachutist uniforms, and very rarely seen on subsequent M69 uniforms used by Paras and COE ( Commandoes ).

Was able to complete a second set of this super difficult to find web gear through a trade with a member of this forum who provided belt and suspenders and a reliable Spanish contact who provided the ammo pouches.





                                                                                                                        


                                                                                                                         




                                                                                                                     
                                                                                                                                                 

Brilliant! Even though I decided to part with my own set of M59 and (partial) pentomico webbing because I decided it didn't quite fit with the overall direction of my collection (and because I needed the cash), it is still one of my favorite combinations; I dearly miss my set and love seeing them posted!

These pieces are so freaking cool..  There are a few other items in this pattern, such as pistol holster, canteen covers, FR8 mag pouches and machine pistol pouches like the ones pictured in these 3 photos,  but they are very seldom encountered.



                                                                                                                                                         






                                                                                                                                            

Excellent set, in great condition!
I saw a couple pouches and belt in this pattern years back, wrote them off as some weird old commercial webbing as there were no markings and there were no threads that ID'd them as Spanish back then. Didn't grab them even though they were cheap, oh how I regret it now!

Belt is the most difficult to find. Suspenders are easy in comparison.

Pouches will hurt any budget

Had a couple of sets of M59s in the past, but they were in less than great shape. These uniforms were worn till they fell apart. Hope it makes you feel better to know I am taking good care of the excellent set I got from you !

Has anybody documented all the pieces for this type? Looking quickly I see:

1. Suspenders
2. Belt
3. Double CETME pouches
4. Quad rifle pouches
5. Double SMG pouches
6. Hand grenade holder
7. Pistol holster

Am I forgetting anything?

I think you pretty much covered it .. I have asked about canteen covers in this pattern and those to whom I spoke, said they have never seen any ,  I have seen most pieces you've listed except for hand grenade holder/pouches.

The long SMG pouches are probably the hardest to find, next to the FR7/8 " Cetmeton " rifle quad pouches.

Thanks for that.  Oh!  I think there's a bayonet frog, but I can't find a picture of it so I might be imagining it. But wait!

I can't remember what I have. I conducted a search of where I thought my Spanish equipment is I only found a box with more recent additions.  I did find I have an extra woodland combat pack!  So that's one for the bottomless eBay pile.

The pentomic camo belt fit perfectly, congrats. Without a doubt one of the most difficult elements of this web gear to obtain. Although there are others as well, such as the mag pouches (submachine, CETME and Mauser rifle). Also the bayonet holder as mentioned CollectinSteve obviously. I have overlooked the pistol holster on occasion, so now I join the ranks of those who regret the thread..

Thanks, I do love this web gear.  Spain was very much ahead of most other nations when it came to camo uniforms and obviously camo web gear .  All of the Pantomico  web gear is difficult to find, with the possible exception of suspenders.

M61s were very much influenced by German combat / Para uniforms, but even Germany did not field camo web gear in earlier times.  

All pouches are super rare as is the holster.  Belts, though, remain the  most desirable, and probably the hardest to find.
