Re: Tarnanzug Neu Uniform
Nice find! I'm still keeping my eyes open for unissued trousers to go with my jacket (I got lucky with that).

Re: Tarnanzug Neu Uniform
Yes, good guess :-) It was confusing to see it available for sale, and not stupidly priced. I'm really glad I took the plunge, but the lack of trousers is a bit of an irritant!

Re: Tarnanzug Neu Uniform
Most pieces of this pattern are not likely to pop up anytime soon..
Beyond the blouses and boonies that were available for a short time, other pieces will take some time to filter out. Seems that those who do have some access are reluctant to push the present boundaries for fear of pissing off the powers that be.
People have been prosecuted and /or sanctioned to prove the position taken by the Austrian DOD that they do not want these uniforms in private hands. What we are likely to see, is used items meant for destruction that slipped out, much like Finn MO4s and Swedish M90Ks..

Re: Tarnanzug Neu Uniform
Same with current Bundeswehr. Pieces are finally starting to become a regular, but EXPENSIVE, feature on German eBay. Earlier when these things popped up they were taken down by eBay. But some things are still impossible to find. I asked a German collector friend who is right next to a big base, and has all kinds of hard to find things in his hands, what is the story with hats. He said he has NEVER seen one available for sale, yet had several spare unissued current uniforms. Go figure.

Re: Tarnanzug Neu Uniform
I know of 2 people who got a not so nice visit by the police because they tried to sell pieces of the new
uniform on an online-platform. They got accused of dealing with stolen goods/ theft of MoD property by the prosecutors office. Not funny. Its still not easy to obtain and it seems that everybody in the military under the rank of major craps his pants if they gets asked to ,,organize,, pieces of this uniform. The stuff from varusteleka was a factory overrun-sale (defects, stains, wrong sizes)and the austrian MoD was not happy about that.

My impression of the pattern of behavior is very early and visible crackdown on violations, followed by a period of "self policing", and then things loosen up years later because nobody's that interested any more.

That sounds like the Danish m/84 screwup many years ago when the uniforms were still standard issue and tightly controlled. The factory screwed up the cloth, they stupidly went ahead and assembled the uniforms, the Danes rejected them, and some sort of contract loophole allowed the manufacturer to sell them. I have barracks trousers from this batch that are my standard work trousers and I don't feel guilty about it one bit
