I just received a set from someone with good connections. It's identical to the one in the auction above. I asked about it and was told it came from a source in Belgium. This is interesting for two reasons:
1. The standard Irish uniforms are made by a Belgian company (Seyntex), which does outsource its manufacturing (traditionally to Tunisia, but I think China as well).
2. The colors and printing style are very similar to Belgian Desert, which is dissimilar to pretty much all other desert uniforms.
The cut is correct, the material is the fairly unique British type, the colors match known real items, and the quality is definitely what I would expect from a combat uniform. Mine came in a crisp, crinkly plastic bag. Typically I see bags like this with Chinese made goods.
My guess is that the uniform is identical to the real thing, just without the tags or Irish flag being sewn on. Someone related to the factory looks to be trying to make some money on the side. This wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened
