Hello,
I've acquired some uniforms through a friend that belonged to CWO3 Richard B. James. James was killed when his AH-64D Apache went down into the Cape Fear River in North Carolina in 2005. According to the various reports, it happened late afternoon, bad visibility, and there were approximatly 30 downed power line poles in the area. CWO3 James was the pilot, and 1 LT Christopher M. Plummer was the co-pilot. CWO3 James was 44 years old, and has three children. All of his stuff was given to my friend, who is ethier using, keeping or gave much of it away. Here is a picture of his aircraft:
Here's what ARMY AIR CREWS.COM said about the crash:
A/C crashed in the Cape Fear River near Buckhorn Dam on the Chatham-Lee county line during a training mission. Crash occurred approx 20 minutes prior to sunset in light rain into a setting sun with a broken to overcast sky. There were approx 30 downed power poles near the area of the crash.
Here are some news reports from the crash that happened in May 2005:

The news reports detailed that James had just returned from a deployment to Afghanistan in May 2004, which explains the absence of a combat patch on these particular uniforms, however I know there is one more aircrew uniform I can try to get. This means these uniforms were used prior to his deployment.
Everything on the Woodland Aircrew uniform has been stripped except the velcro for flag and unit patch. I did put a color flag on the flag spot. Here is a picture of the unit patch of the 1-130th Attack Helicopter Bn:
And pictures of the Aircrew uniform, dated 2000:
And pictures of the BDU Shirt I have. Luckily, the collar patches were still there. It's a start!
I also have a winter weight patrol cap with his name in it, just like every peice of gear he had. And I was able to get his Army Green Class A Dress Belt.
Now what I need to restore this set currently are the following:
2 JAMES tapes (Probably have to order those but that is a common name)
1 Senior Aviator Badge
1 Metal Subdued CWO3 rank
1 Subdued NC NG patch
1 1-130th Attack Helicopter Bn Patch
I would love to restore these uniforms, and restore them to thier former glory, to honor CWO3 James. I may be able to find some of his BDU trousers also.
Thanks for looking!
Andrew
