Patch is for the 48th Gurkha Infantry Brigade (1957–1976; renamed Gurkha Field Force 1976–97; returned to old title 1987–ca.1992) formerly based in Hong Kong. Patch was also worn by the Royal Hong Kong Regiment (Volunteer), a TA unit made up principally of resident Hong Kong citizens and some ex-patriates. If the shirt has no zippered front opening and no issue labels, then the shirt is probably RHKR(V) as they employed their own tailor to make up uniforms from tropical DPM material. That being said, many RHKR personnel acquired genuine Brit tropicals to be 'ally'.
