Believed to be an early version due to the cotton labels-later versions labels were a nylon type of material and had instructions for wear/use of the vest as these were meant to be worn UNDER a combat jacket/smock and the early vests were sometimes mistakenly worn OVER a jacket/smock by some squaddies

Thanks for the reply(now have 4 of the damn things!!!!)
Have seen various plates on Ebay but without knowing exactly what type to look for dont want to be buying expensive plates that dont fit

I found 2 of these at a range on top of Black mountain along with 2 SLR mags fully loaded when I was a kid in the mid 80s !
I bet some one got the book thrown at them for that.
