US has had military advisors in more African countries than anybody knows about for decades. I have a retired SF NCO friend who led a company on a combat patrol in the late 1980s or early 1990s. Dunno exactly when, definitely don't know where 
Currently there are about 100 US SF personnel operating in the Congo/Uganda against the LRA. And they aren't just advising, apparently.

Hello everybody, does anyone have photos of the Malawian Army in the mid-1980s? From one fuzzy photo I have of them it looks like they wore a British olive drab jungle uniform and British turtleshell helmet (I think it's called a Mk.III?) but I could be mistaken.

Since Malawi was the former British colony of Niassaland it used British equipment and uniforms at the beginning.
