Got this hat in the mail today with a bunch of other desert items. I don't really collect British DPM but this one is interesting. Brim has been shortened and has ONEBOMB stitched in the back. Also has a Chuck Norris tab stitched under the front of the brim and the previous owners name written in felt pen. It is a size 58.

Can anyone tell me what the ONEBOMB stands for? Also, I see the unmodded boonies everywhere...are the modded ones more hard to find?

'Onebomb' is probably a nickname relating to something that happened to the owner and was probably theatre stitched, as was the mod to the brim.

There is at least one company in the UK selling copt boonies with mod'd brims as well as another taking surplus boonies and modding them and selling to the public.

Apparently the shorter brim, whilst less practical in some ways, is also deemed to be more ally and look more like a keen eyed dealer of death and destruction Laughing In my day, modifying HM's kit was more likely to get you put on some kind of charge !

It's a nice, personalised bit of kit. Good score !

You should be in books, Dave. This line in particular reminds me of something Doug Adams would say, had he ever written about commandos. =]

I have a couple of these, one has a theatre made Afghanistan tab on the side and the other has kiss me quick on the front.
I also have one turned in to a peaked cap.

Very nice Mate, I've got a fair few of these, and all wildly customised, they do look a lot smarter in use when the brim has been trimmed down, the standard hat's always look a bit stupid to me, great addition.

Sad to hear that there's a company that produce these things, pretty soon it will be impossible to tell original from fake Evil or Very Mad
