Capdap HW goretex jacket

I saw this for sale a while back and umm'd and arr'd over it then decided to buy it. Sadly it's missing the zipped hood but it's grown on me and is a great jacket to wear, very warm and comfortable. I take it this is the new combined airforce/army clothing as it has the pull down reflective tabs front and rear? It came with one 'airborne' patch but missing the rest. Dated 2010 so a fairly current piece of kit that's hard to get hold of.

Very difficult to find bit of kit indeed! The reflective strips are standard for this jacket. I don't think it was on any previous garment, Airforce or otherwise.

The "Airborne" badge is US Army, so toss it onto a US ACU uniform to give it a proper home. No Canadian soldier would have that on his uniform except under very rare conditions where a smackdown from higher ups would soon correct.

Thanks for the info Steve, I will find the patch a home with somebody else. If any of my camo stuff is worn it's always de-badged totally except maybe for the country flag. The only US gear I have is the legendary ecwcs first gen goretex parka so I've no use for the airborne patch.

I'm hoping one day to get lucky with finding a zipped hood for this jacket but I won't hold my breath!

The RCAF were issued these jackets a couple of years before the Army. I am not sure if the Army ones have the reflective strips. Do not be too quick to dump the US Airborne tab as Ranger and Sapper tabs are authorized for wear at the unit level and the Airborne tab may be as well. There are trousers that go with these jackets although few people wear them.

Whoa. The tabs can be worn on a combat uniform? I thought only the qualification badges were authorized for wear, and even then only on the dress uniform.

Here is an example of a US Sapper tab being worn on a CADPAT AR uniform in Afghanistan. Prior to the introduction of CADPAT, the Ranger tab was the one most seen on the old OG107 Green Combat uniform.

Just a little update thanks to a very kind person from Canada, I managed to get my zipped hood Sadly it's for a bigger jacket though and the zip is too long but I'm sure I can fettle with it and shorten it, sew it back on and make a reasonable job it it.
