Have a couple all 60s dated and there is a debate as to if a green mug existed as nobody seems to own one or can produce any pictorial evidence.

When the 1958 Pattern webbing was issued in - yes, you've guessed - 1959, it had no waterbottle, mug or pouch. These entered service in 1962 along with the 1962 Pattern Poncho (widely known as a '58 Poncho!). Cascelloid made the first rejected prototype waterbottle and all parts were green.

Oddly, the mugs on the "'58 Pattern" have ALWAYS been black. I have one 1962 dated. I think they were first produced as a trials item in '62 then rolled out from 1964 onward made by "F&G" (with different NSNs): I've never seen older than 1962 and have not yet seen 1963 or 1966 dated bottles or mugs. From 1967, bottles were black. Designed by Cascelloid, Osprey only began making them in 1975 or '76 onward.

    I'll UL pics after tomorrow.

The green W/Bs sell for absurd money on eBay. I've seen mickey mouse green ones sold at high prices but they're clearly not genuine.
