    Hi all,

As one or 2 of you know I picked up a large lot of equipment and some uniforms from a long serving member and apparent hoarder from SASR. Here are some of the interesting parchute loft made or modified rigs. This is from the same guy as the DPDU trial CUTS and the platacam issued trial CUTS shirt. There was also some 2nd pattern DPDU in the mix.

Early wildsports ambush pouch modified into a chest rig. Converted into a ches rig and had tabs added to convert it fro 3 round mags, painted in woodland colors with desert browns and grays added.

Entirely scratch made rig with 40mm sized elastic, originaly green with a black wash in parts then painted in browns. (all the colours on these rigs look far brighter because of my camera flash)

1999 dated bronzewing rig, the top pouch is just there for storage and just stuck on with the velcro. Has language prompts on the top of the mag pouch.

In the early days these were made as swimmers rigs. In the very early days of afghanistan there was allot of use of these small battle bra style rigs as they were mainly mounted in LRRVs so not far from their gear.

To be honest im not too sure about the RARs around that period. whilst iv been in its varied so much its not even funny, the CDF directive and how its been interpereted have made allot of difference, when it first came in everything had to be issued and un modified then they figured out nearly everyone had cut the dividers out of their mag pouches as everyone was told to do in kapooka so they had to change that as their wernt enough to replace them all, then they loosened off and any rig was fine it just needed to have issued mag and pyro pouches.

I do remember hearing from people that only guys that had completed the recon course were allowed to paint there gear. What period are you interested in?

thanks for the info, very interested in the gulf war to interfet period- theres not much info on 90s modified kit (regular and SF)

did CDF (or whatever they called it back then) allow the use of the south african vest? or was it just for recon units?

To be honest im not sure what was common in the early 90s. I know the CDF directive only came in last few years.
