    Civilforsvaret Empty Civilforsvaret

--These are not rare, I have discovered, and I am not sure if this one is Danish, or Swedish-- but I am most happy to have found it. I happen to like the color. I also like that it keeps a person warm in the sub-arctic, yet uncomfortable Maryland winter-- and has gigantic pockets that will accommodate your gloves.

I suppose that one could even argue that this is not strictly even a "militaria" item, although I do think that it qualifies for "para-militaria," in some way, shape or form (I did once have a Danish Army coat that was identical, but for being green).

This, I recon, would be a Swedish Civil Defence jacket.
The Ö on the patch is the Swedish letter, Ø is the Danish version, though phonetically it is the same 'sound'.
But Civilforsvaret in Danish is not spelled or pronounced with the Ö-letter or -sound.

I have not seen this cut or model in Danish Civil Defence-clothing before, but colours and general build is very similar, especially the size tags looks almost identical.

Does any of our Swedes here have a more solid and senseful explenation, than my super vague one, please? Now I want to know too! Very Happy

I'll go with Ronny it's Swedish. The Danish civil defence jackets I've seen are different.

--I guess it would be prudent to mention that the coat that I *believed* was Danish probably was Swedish. It was from a surplus store, and had no tag-- which this article also lacks. I had only their word that it originated in Denmark. The only other coat similar to this one I've seen did have a Swedish flag on it, so I guess that settles it.

At any rate, I have a definite weakness for any kind of CD items. Very pleased with this one.

And... thank you both for the input.

Here's my Danish CF jacket. I got it for the grand sum of £7, came with a hood too. It's a great jacket to wear and very well made. I've had a few people ask me where to get one as they've liked it so much.

Well Darn diddely; I've been after one of those for Dan for weeks now. They used to be quite abundant, but seems have all dried up here in their native country.
    The quest continues...

    Very nice jacket, Matt!

I know of two size 7 jackets still for sale Ronny with hoods. Some of these have small repairs though but are very cheap.

    Hello Smile

I possess a detachable hood with danish markings . May be suitable for one of the previous jackets ?

    Hi!

I support the opinion of the previous forum members - this parka is definitely Swedish.

This is just blue-gray version of well-known Swedish Military Parka with Liner, Olive Drab, model of the year 1959 (M59).Civilforsvaret Used-swedish-military-m59-parka-with-liner-olive-drab?a=772964
